The Vitamin That May Improve Every Aspect of Your Health

There is one vitamin that people are notoriously low on. At the same time this vitamin is often considered a hormone because of the numerous amount of functions it's used for within the body. To dramatically improving your heart health, brain health, immune health, bone health, energy levels, and cardiovascular health.

The reason people are notoriously low on it is because the average person isn't going out in the sun as often as they should. Low vitamin D has been linked to the pathogenesis of many chronic diseases. There has been showing evidence with it being effective against COVID-19. It can improve almost any health condition and just your overall health. Including this can be a gamechanger for a lot of people since most people do not get the recommended amount of sunlight needed and that is the most abundant source of vitamin D.

When we think of bone health most people think about calcium. But vitamin D is probably more crucial for bone health. One of the many functions of vitamin D is to help the body absorb calcium. So without adequate vitamin D, calcium may be used insufficiently. From a cognitive perspective, this study examined elderly participants and saw that higher levels of vitamin D in the brain tissue were associated with stronger memory and a slower rate of cognitive decline.

Immune system and gut function (which go hand in hand), have been shown to really benefit from vitamin D. Being low in vitamin D is extremely prevalent in autoimmune diseases. Vitamin D modulates the innate and adaptive immune responses. There have been many studies associating low vitamin D and increased rate of infections. From a digestive standpoint, Vitamin D helps keep your gut healthy by strengthening its protective barrier and preventing unwanted leaks through the cell walls. This is what stems from a lot of autoimmune issues and problems with being sensitive to an abundant amount of foods.

There is so much research and information on the importance of vitamin D and improving your overall health. Like I said, so important that it can act as a hormone - which means they can to an extent, control how your cells and organs function. In the winter it is essential for everyone to supplement with vitamin D, except if you live in a warm environment year round with a lot of sunlight. If you don't get enough sun, I would highly recommend getting out in the sun a little more or supplementing with vitamin D and watch your health improve.
